
Interfax reported that Russia generated 630 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in January to August 2009 down by 6.6%YoY.
Power consumption in the eight months fell 6.6% to 621 billion kWh.
Power stations on the Unified Electricity System reduced output 6.8% to 616.6 billion kWh in the eight months, while output on isolated systems rose 2.8% to 14 billion kWh. Consumption on the UES fell 6.8% to 607.1 billion kWh.
Thermal stations reduced output 12.5% to 365.3 billion kWh and nuclear plants reduced production 2.7% to 104.2 billion kWh, while output from hydropower plants increased 11.5% to 115.8 billion kWh.
Power stations at industrial enterprises reduced output 5.4% to 31.2 billion kWh in the period.
