As was aired by Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Mr Yuriy Boiko before the Cabinet meeting, Ukraine intends to involve European Union representatives in its gas negotiations with Russia.

Mr Boiko said “We have really sent letters to Mr Oettinger, European Commissioner for Energy and invited the European Commission to participate in the negotiations.”

He added that now the Ukrainian side is in "constructive talks" with Russia to attract European partners.

Ukraine also hopes to reach a consensus in the negotiations with Russia on the establishment of a tripartite consortium to manage the GTS.

According to the head of the Russian Gazprom, Mr Alexei Miller, in this matter, there is an understanding on common approaches and common figures.
