Itar-Tass cited Mr Vadim Chuprun deputy CEO of Naftogaz Ukrainy as saying that the amount of Russian gas transit via Ukraine next year will make up 116 billion cubic meters.

He said that “Negotiations continue, but irrespective of when these documents are signed, Naftogaz will ensure a safe transit of gas till the end of the heating season.”

Mr Vadim Chuprun said that in January to November 2009 the transit of Russian gas across Ukraine made up 85 billion cubic meters.
