According to the State Statistics Department of Uzbekistan, in January to July 2009 Uzbekistan only steel producer Uzmetkombinat increased its crude steel output by 10.8%YoY to 449,700 tonnes compared to the same period last year.

During the period in question Uzmetkombinat also registered an 8.1%YoY increase in its output of rolled steel products to 420,900 tonnes including 327,000 tonnes of long steel products up by 11%YoY.

In 2008, Uzmetkombinat produced 674,300 tonnes of crude steel up by 4.5%YoY, 643,100 tonnes of rolled steel products up by 3.8% including 485,200 tonnes of long steel products up by 3.9%YoY compared to 2007.
