
RIA Novosti reported that car sales of German auto giant Volkswagen in Russia doubled in the first nine months of 2011 to 78,917 vehicles.
September 2011 was the most profitable month for the company in Russia as it sold 11,987 cars up by 96%YoY.
The company said in a statement that the sales of Volkswagen Polo sedans stood at 31,300 cars, the sales of Volkswagen Tiguan grew 10% to 11,000 while Volkswagen Golf sales rose by about 120% to 9,779 cars in January-September 2011.
The company also sold 6,911 Touareg cars up by 82%YoY, 6,373 Passat cars and 3,707 Polo hatchbacks increase by 67% compared with the first nine months of 2010.
