Interfax quoted the watchdog said in a statement that the Russian State Technical Standards Oversight Agency will perform further checks at power plants and heat suppliers to ensure they are ready for the peak winter season.

The instruction is set down in minutes for a meeting devoted to winter preparations by the power and housing and utilities sectors and chaired by the Russian prime minister.

Rostekhnadzor will also keep a register of power installations in a critical state.
