Mr Nirmal Kumar Agarwal director of Adhunik Metaliks Limited talks about the Co’s performance, vis a vis industry.
Q - Please focus on the growth and potential of the ferroalloys industry?
A - As anticipated, steel production will be 90 million tonnes by the year 2012. Similarly, ferroalloys production will also go up from the present level in line with the requirement of the steel industry. Moreover, various shore based plants have been established with a view to import manganese ore and export ferroalloys to Europe/SE Asian countries. Apart from exports, their venture into domestic market cannot be ruled out.
Q - How has the company performed production wise?
A - We are having three furnaces of 9MVA each in our steel complex situated at Rourkela and we are running the furnaces in full capacity for production of different ferroalloys in line with the market requirement. The added advantage is that we are having our own manganese ore mines as well as captive power plant, which are essential inputs of ferroalloys.
Q - What are your future plans?
A - Keeping in view the anticipated growth in the steel segment vis-à-vis increase of production of ferroalloys, we are also having plans to add more furnaces preferably of the same capacity of 9MVA each at our existing ferroalloy plant at Rourkela.
