Manganese Ore - Production decreased by 21% due to a voluntary shut down of the Wessels and Mamatwan mines in South Africa for four weeks following a fatality at Wessels mine in February 2011 and concentrator down time at Gemco in Australia that lasted for four days.
Manganese Alloys - Production was in line with Q1 2010 but decreased by 10% compared to Q4 2010 due to lower steel demand and higher alloy stockpiles in China.
