
TEX reported that Brazil's exports of ferroniobium during January to October 2011 period was 5,607 tonnes (weight of the material), down by 2.7% MoM. After two months of steady increase, October was a month of a break. The month's total exports were almost level with the monthly average (5,579 tonnes) of the exports in 2010.
Breakdown (with change from the preceding month in parentheses) by destination is as follows:
Netherlands: 1,735 tonnes, down by 1.5% MoM
China: 1,360 tonnes, up by 15.3% MoM
Singapore: 725 tonnes, up by 2.1 times
USA: 658 tonnes, down by 31.3% MoM
Japan: 484 tonnes, down by 19.9% MoM
Korea: 210 tonnes, down by 46.7% MoM
Canada: 154 tonnes, down by 11.3% MoM
Quantity to Netherlands dropped 2 months in a row, and exports to Japan and Korea also declined. Quantity to China and Singapore recovered the levels of the earlier months of this year. Averaged unit price of the month's exports was USD 26,536 per tonne, down by 2.4% from September of USD 27,180 per tonne.
Exports of all the ferroalloys from Brazil during the ten months of 2011 were 298,791 tonnes, up by 9.6% YoY, of which breakdown by item is as follows:
High carbon ferromanganese: 8,190 tonnes, up by 62.7% YoY
Ferrosilicon (Si>55%): 104,192 tonnes, down by 12.0% YoY
Silicomanganese: 56,313 tonnes, up by 35.8% YoY
High carbon ferrochrome: 6,813 tonnes, down by 8.3% YoY
Ferroniobium: 59,869 tonnes, up by 10.0% YoY
