
It is reported that the prices of ferrochrome hiked in China for the first time since September 2011, driven by the stainless steel mills' higher bids.
It is known that Taiyuan Iron & Steel Group, the largest stainless steelmaker in China increased its December 2011 ferrochrome prices to CNY 7,400 per tonne this week from CNY 7,300 per tonne.
Besides, Zhangjiagang POSCO also increased its weekly bid prices by CNY 100 per tonne to reach CNY 7,600 per tonne this week.
As a result, the transaction prices of ferrochrome surged by CNY 100 per tonne from a week earlier to reach CNY 7,600 to CNY 7,700 per tonne on December 15th 2011.
