
According to a media report, China's domestic production of silicomanganese in May 2012 was 871,000 tonnes, up by 8.6% MoM from 802,000 tonnes in April 2012.
Production during the first five months of 2012 was 3.924 million tonnes, down by 2.7% YoY from 4.031 million tonnes in the same five month period of 2011, slightly narrowing the YoY gap.
Breakdown of the output by division is:
Guangxi: 247,000 tonnes (up by 8.8% MoM)
Hunan: 145,000 tonnes (down by 7.6% MoM)
Guizhou: 122,000 tonnes (up by 13.0% MoM)
Inner Mongolia: 75,000 tonnes (down by 7.4% MoM)
Ningxia: 45,000 tonnes (up by 15.4% MoM)
Yunnan: 38,000 tonnes (up by 2.1 times)
Hunan and Inner Mongolia continued the downtrend while the increases in Guangxi, Guizhou and Yunnan contributed to the month's increase.
