Italian special steel producer Cogne Acciai Speciali's production activity decreased by 4% YoY to 5% YoY in the first nine months of 2012, as stated by Mr Ennio Pastoret, a regional government official, during a meeting aimed at evaluating the situation at the Aosta, Italy based special steel mill.
Mr Pastoret stated that a decline in steel market activity has been forecast both by the company and by the Italian industrial confederation. He continued by saying that "Despite the current environment, Cogne Acciai Speciali has managed to obtain important funding from the banks and has divested a distribution business in order to increase its share capital."
He added that the company will now have to reach the goals in its strategic development plan which has been approved by Munich based strategy consulting firm Roland Berger.
