
It is reported that Mr Ramiro Valdes Menendez VP of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba visited the area of Moa and spoke highly of the efforts made here to increase nickel production in 2010.
At a meeting with the board of directors of the Cubaniquel Company, Mr Alberto Panton Graham GM of Cubaniquel Company briefed the visitor on the company operations and their fulfillment of the production plan.
Mr Valdes also visited the area where the fourth largest nickel plant of the country is currently under construction.
The official also met with the management and staff of the Pedro Sotto Alba Joint Company, and showed interest on the strategies implemented by these companies to counteract the pollution of the environment, making special recognition of the reforestation works carried out in the Nicaro and Moa area.
The Cuban Vice President was also briefed on the works carried out at the Gustavo Machin Mechanical Company to reduce imports.
