Dr Staffan Malm secretary general of ISSF has announced his intention to retire at the end of March 2009 after 8 years at the helm of the world's leading stainless steel forum.
Dr Malm became ISSF's first dedicated secretary general when he was appointed by the board in 2001. Since its establishment in 1996, ISSF had been led by Mr Ian Christmas head of the International Iron & Steel Association (now World Steel Association).
Since his appointment, Dr Malm has continued to evolve ISSF into an independent organization that now represents almost 75% of the world’s stainless steel production. Membership of the forum has also grown by around 50% during his tenure.
