The European steel makers' association is threatening to file anti dumping complaints against China in regard to its exported steel products, as a surge in the global usage of stainless steel is intensifying competition in the European market.
According to a Dow Jones report, the European Confederation of Iron and Steel Industries plans to file the compliant, specifically citing the import of cold rolled, stainless steel plates, with the European Commission by the end of March.
The commission is the EU's trade authority in Brussels.
Mr Zhang Lin an analyst with the Beijing based Lange Steel Information Research Center said that the global output of stainless steel jumped 40% in the first six months of 2010, year on year, and a majority of the production increase came from Asian steel makers.
Mr Zhang said that the European Confederation of Iron and Steel's complaint is a protective measure to keep imports down and boost the sale of products made in Europe.
