European mills July austenitic stainless alloy surcharges drop further

Recently, European mills such as Outokumpu, ThyssenKrupp and Acerinox have announced to cut the alloy surcharges for July.

The nickel prices have remained weak at LME. It had ever dipped to the lowest level in the middle of June. As a result, some European steel mills have reduced the stainless alloy surcharge to reflect production costs.

It’s known that Outokumpu cut the alloy surcharge for 304, 316L and 201 series stainless to EUR 1,579 per tonne, EUR 2,455 per tonne and EUR 1,165 per tonne for July down by 8.1%, 7.8% and 5.8% respectively from a month earlier. Also, ThyssenKrupp decreased the alloy surcharge for 304, 316L series stainless to EUR 1,598 per tonne and EUR 2,455 per tonne for July dropped by 8.1% and 7.7% respectively from June.

Besides, Acerinox declined cut the alloy surcharge for 304, 316L and 201 series stainless to EUR 1,775 per tonne, EUR 2,666 per tonne and EUR 1,299 per tonne for July down by 5.2%, 3.6% and 4.2% respectively from June. However, the three makers increased alloy surcharge for 410S series stainless to EUR 406 per tonne, EUR 478 per tonne and EUR 472 per tonne for July up by 3.1%, 1.1% and 0.9% respectively from June.
