According to the statistics from the International Stainless Steel Forum, the global stainless steel output raised from 7.62 million tonnes to 8.02 million tonnes in Q2.
However, US stainless steel output 671,000 tonnes was down by 7.8% QoQ as compared to Q1. Meanwhile, the US was the only one country showed downtrend.
US stainless steel output increased dramatically in Q1 due to strong demand; while mills cut the output because of the decreasing demand in Q2.
It was estimated that the trend of stainless steel price would be affected by LME nickel price mainly in Q3 since the output and demand were weak.
