
TEX reported that production of crude special steel in the Q1 (January to March) 2012 was 6.282 million tonnes, up by 1.2% YoY from 6.205 million tonnes in the same quarter of 2011. Consequently, consumption of ferromolybdenum was 1,395 tonnes (of the material), also up by 1.5% YoY.
Imports of ferromolybdenum were 327 tonnes (of the material), largely down by 44.2% YoY from the Q1 of 2011. This large drop was mostly for the purpose of stock level adjustment.
Imports of molybdenum oxide during the Q1 2012 were 7,555 tonnes, down by 18.5% YoY from 9,264 tonnes in the same quarter of 2011.
