
According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, Japan's ferroalloy imports totaled 148,727 tonnes in December 2011, falling by 2.7% MoM and down by 7.1% YoY.
Meanwhile, in 2011, Japan's ferroalloy imports amounted to 1.8 million tonnes, decreasing by 3.4% YoY.
In 2011, Japan's three main sources of ferroalloy imports were South Africa, Kazakhstan and China. Imports from South Africa totaled 383,086 tonnes, decreasing by 5.7% YoY, while Kazakhstan exported 370,678 tonnes of ferroalloy to Japan in 2011, up by 16.4% YoY. In 2011, Japanese ferroalloy imports from China fell by 23% YoY as compared to 2010 to 339,083 tonnes.
