
According to data released by the Japan Iron & Steel Federation, Japan exported 95,183 tonnes of stainless steel in May 2012, rising by 6.5% MoM.
In May 2012, the country's exports stainless steel to China and South Korea rose slightly by 0.5% MoM respectively; that to Taiwan decreased by 41.8% MoM; that to the US increased by 6% MoM and that to Thailand surged by 19.7% MoM.
The export values generated by stainless steel amounted to USD 438.72 million in May 2012. The average prices were at USD 4,243 per tonne, increasing by 9.2% MoM.
