According to a report released on July 14th 2011 by Rio Tinto, which is the parent company of Kennecott Utah Copper of the USA, Kennecott produced 4,300 tonnes of molybdenum in molybdenum concentrates in the second quarter of 2011, which had a considerable increase of 53% YoY compared wit that of 2,800 tonnes produced in the same quarter of 2010 and also increased by 17% compared to that in the preceding quarter of January to March of 2011.

This substantial increase in recovery of molybdenum for the second quarter of 2011 was due to the averaged content of molybdenum in crude ore, which was 0.050% as higher than those (0.039% in the same quarter of 2010 and 0.046% in the preceding quarter of January to March of 2011.

On the contrary, copper content in crude ore mined in April to June quarter of 2011 had lowered to 0.38% and the output of copper in the second quarter of 2011 was enforced to have a decline of 20%.
