
Mirabela Nickel Limited has announced its unaudited third quarter results for the period ended September 30th 2011. Highlights:
Record production of nickel in concentrate for the quarter of 4,605 tonnes (up 36% from Q2 2011: 3,395 tonnes)
Record sales of nickel in concentrate for the quarter of 4,228 tonnes (up 8% from Q2 2011: 3,909 tonnes)
15% decrease in unit cash costs for the quarter to USD 6.71 per pound (Q2 2011: USD 7.85 per pound) and expected to continue to decrease further during the fourth quarter
Record total mining material movement of 10.4 million tonnes (up 14% from Q2 2011) and ore production of 1.7 million tonnes (up 31% from Q2 2011)
Record processing plant performance with mill throughput of 1.4 million tonnes for the quarter at an average nickel recovery of 62% (Q2 2011: 1.3 million tonnes at 56% recovery)
Processing plant upgrade to 7.2 million tonnes per annum remains on budget and ahead of schedule
Close out of all outstanding copper (8,844 tonnes) nickel (10,626 tonnes) hedges at a total cost of approximately USD 20 million
Cash on hand and on deposit of USD 117 million at quarter end (Q2 2011: USD 143 million)
