Mr A Sai Prathap minister of state in the Ministry of Steel said that, with the available technologies Durgapur Steel Plant produces Channels, Angles & TMT bars which are used for construction purposes. Integrated Steel Plants do not normally manufacture finished consumer goods.

In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today, he said, there is no plan to start the production of finished consumer goods of stainless steel at Durgapur Steel Plant.
