According to statistics released by the Specialty Steel Industry of North America, North America’s stainless steel consumption totaled 201,672 short tonnes in February rising by 7% YoY.

In February, the consumption of stainless steel sheet and strip totaled 133,652 tonnes up by 0.8% YoY however, the imports decreased by 21% YoY to 25,112 tonnes.

In the first 2 months of this year, the consumption of all stainless steel amounted to 417,157 tonnes increasing by 7.2% YoY. In the given period of time, the imports of stainless steel remained flat at 127,795 tonnes in comparison of 126,885 tonnes in the same period of a year earlier.
