According to statistics released by Russia's special steel association Spetsstal, the country's imports of stainless steel totaled 18,975 tonnes in May 2012, rising by 9.5% MoM.

Among them, the imports of medium-size section steel surged by 40.6%; that of seamless pipes soared by 145%; that of welded pipes rose by 12.5%, all compared to that in a month earlier.

In the first five months of this year, Russia imported 86,802 tons of stainless steel, falling by 5.9% in comparison of that in the same period of a year ago.
