
It is reported that a new annealing and pickling line has been commissioned at the Steel Authority of India Limited’s Salem Steel Plant at a cost of INR 266.80 crore to ramp up the output of specialized steel products.
Mr Soiles Bhattacharya director finance of SAIL inaugurated the new line, which was supplied by Austria based Andritz AG.
The newly inaugurated line has a designed capacity of 500,000 tonnes per annum. Following start of the AP line, the cold rolled stainless steel production capacity of the plant would go up from 72,000 tonnes at present to 146,000 tonnes per annum.
It said that one of the most important features of the line is the pollution control equipment incorporated in its design to meet stringent emission norms as per international standards.
