SA major ferrochrome firms to cut Q3 output on weak demand

It is reported that because of the decreasing demand for stainless steel, the leading ferrochrome plants in South Africa decided to cut the output in the third quarter of this year.
Merafe Resources produced the ferrochrome of 48,000 tonnes in the third quarter of 2011, down by 18% YoY.
IFM produced the ferrochrome of 32,000 tonnes in the third quarter of 2011, down by 41.2% YoY.
In addition, Xstrata produced the ferrochrome of 186,000 tonnes in the third quarter of 2011, down by 18% YoY.
