Although Taiwan stainless steel mills including Yieh United Steel Corporation and Tang Eng have cut the prices for the five consecutive months, it still cannot boost the Taiwanese stainless market due to the limited span of price cut.
It is reckoned that the cheaper import from China is a threat to the Taiwanese market.
Traders said that the Chinese mills offered great discount to the buyers in order to digest the inventory. Some mills even gave a discount of USD 100 per tonne if the customer books the quantity of over 1,000 tonnes.
Industry insiders indicated that the Taiwanese stainless mills would face more threat from the Chinese mills if they do not take more flexible ways on selling.
