Though the nickel prices at LME have stayed steady at USD 18,000 to USD 18,500 per tonne, Taiwanese stainless steel market still remains sluggish due to poor demand.
It is known that Taiwanese major stainless steel mills including Yieh United Steel Corporation, Tang Eng and Walsin Liwa have all decreased the November list prices. The list prices of 300 series stainless steel products dropped by TWD 3,000 to TWD 5,000 per tonne averagely.
It is said that the transaction prices of stainless steel prices have been flat in Taiwanese market after the major stainless steelmakers’ price cut. For instance, the transaction prices of 304/2B stainless steel coil have remained at TWD 86 to TWD 87 per kilogram over the past ten days in Taiwanese market.
Dealers indicated that the stainless steel prices would remain flat in Taiwanese market due to steady nickel prices.
