Last week, the base metal prices at LME performed unstable and the nickel prices went down all the way to USD 16,950 per tonne from USD 17,800 per tonne.

Affected by the unsatisfactory performance, Taiwanese stainless steel prices may drop further this week.

Dealers analyzed that the nickel prices slumped due to the downturn of global economy; however, it may not plummet as much as that in 2008 due to the low inventory level.

Taiwanese stainless steel mills are going to release December list prices this week and it’s predicted that they would cut the prices by TWD 2,000 to TWD 3,000 per tonne to reflect the lower nickel prices.
