According to statistics released by Taiwan's customs, the country imported 26,158 tonnes of stainless steel scraps in May 2012, rising by 4% MoM.

In May 2012, the average import prices of stainless steel scraps were at TWD 59,574 per tonne, increasing by TWD 160 per tonne in comparison of TWD 59,414 per tonne in a month ago.

In the first five months of 2012, Taiwan's imports of stainless steel scraps totaled 138,000 tonnes.

In the given period of time, the US was the largest exporter of stainless steel scraps with 9,647 tonnes with average prices of TWD 62,947 per tonne; the Netherlands was the second largest one with 2,892 tonnes with average prices of TWD 60,028 per tonne and Vietnam was the third largest one with 2,407 tonnes with average prices of TWD 56,792 per tonne.
