Shanxi Province based Chinese steel producer Taiyuan Iron & Steel Co has announced that its subsidiary in Chengdu, Sichuan Province has signed a contract with China National Petroleum Corporation to supply 300 tonnes of stainless steel pipe for the Russia China gas pipeline project.

This marks the first time Taiyuan Steel's stainless steel pipe will enter the international market.

In 2011, Taiyuan Steel's Chengdu based subsidiary successfully developed 177.8 mm × 4.36 mm nickel alloy stainless oil country tubular goods with weight of 0.5 tonnes, the largest stainless steel product produced in China.
