ThyssenKrupp Steel USA and ThyssenKrupp Stainless USA have announced a jobs fair for people interested in hourly and salaried positions at the company's USD 4.65 billion carbon steel and stainless facilities in Calvert.

Mr Scott Posey director of communications at ThyssenKrupp Steel USA said that ThyssenKrupp has held about a dozen such fairs in south and central Alabama so far, and next week's event in Mount Vernon will be the first held near operation itself.

Mr Posey said that the company expects a big turnout for the December 9th 2009 job fair. He added that he's seen a direct correlation between high unemployment and job fair attendance, with recent events in Washington and Jackson counties drawing more than 500 people.
