Zhangjiagang Pohang Stainless Steel Co on September 27th 2010 hosted a regular general meeting to elect new representatives for its labor union, marking its third term.

Featuring 143 representatives of the company's 1,750 union members, including the ZPSS president and the vice chairman of Zhangjiagang laborers' association, the meeting ended with the election of seven union directors and the new chairman Mr Huang Jin feng.

Launched on September 17th 2002, the ZPSS labor union has represented the company's laborers, protecting their rights and facilitating labor management communication. Serving the post of the union's chairman for the previous two terms, Mr Zhang Shi jun successfully led the union through a wide range of activities that it has been involved in, for which he won last year's Global POSCO Family Award.

Labor unions in China contribute much to increasing productivity at work, in addition to protecting member rights and supporting cultural activities. Behind the company's advanced laborer management relations is China's traditional corporate culture putting emphasis on harmonized labor management relations.

The ZPSS union has been playing a vital role in bringing harmony to relations, and the new representatives are expected to work hard to protect its members' political and economic rights, support their cultural activities and improve the company's business performance.

Meanwhile, ZPSS' management promised to work harder to support the union activities and the realization of each union member's potential.
