Equipping these planes with GEnx engines accentuates their commitment to efficiency and sustainability, aligning with their aim to become carbon neutral by 2050.



LATAM Airlines Group unveiled plans to bolster its fleet by procuring five more Boeing 787 Dreamliners, marking a substantial stride in fortifying their position as Latin America's primary Dreamliner operator. This acquisition, combined with previously scheduled deliveries, will elevate LATAM's Dreamliner fleet to 46 aircraft, an expansion of 20 planes compared to pre-pandemic figures.

Ramiro Alfonsín, CFO of LATAM Airlines Group S.A., emphasized the strategic significance of integrating GEnx engines into their upcoming Boeing 787s. This decision not only offers operational flexibility but also aligns with their sustainability ambitions, steering closer to their target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

Mike Wilson, Vice President of Latin America and Caribbean Sales at Boeing Commercial Airplanes, commended the Dreamliner's aptitude in supporting LATAM's sustainability endeavors, highlighting its superior performance, route versatility, and enhanced passenger comfort.

The incorporation of GEnx engines, renowned for their exceptional performance and efficiency, positions LATAM Airlines Group as an industry pioneer in South America. Kathy MacKenzie, Vice President of GE Commercial Programs for GE Aerospace, expressed enthusiasm in welcoming LATAM to the GEnx engine family, vowing to support their fleet expansion seamlessly.

The Boeing 787 series epitomizes fuel efficiency, boasting a 25% reduction in fuel consumption and emissions compared to preceding aircraft. Its remarkable capabilities, including flying 300 passengers over vast distances, underscore its prominence in the airline's fleet expansion strategy.

Designed for passenger comfort, the Boeing 787 ensures an enjoyable flying experience with its spacious cabin, adjustable lighting, superior air quality, smooth ride technology, and ample storage space.

Currently operating 332 aircraft, including 56 Boeing passenger planes and 256 Airbus models, LATAM Airlines Group's expansion signifies a significant leap forward in fostering a modern, efficient, and eco-conscious fleet for the future.
