In a noteworthy collaboration, Tata Power, a leading and rapidly advancing provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions in India, has joined forces with the esteemed Ranchi Airport Authority (RAA) to install two public chargers with a capacity of 30 kilowatts (kW) each at the Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi.

This partnership aligns seamlessly with Tata Power's unwavering dedication to promoting EV adoption throughout India, as well as the government's National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP), which aims to facilitate the electrification of private and public vehicles by establishing the necessary infrastructure. Level-1 chargers, categorized among the three speed levels of EV charging devices, alongside fast EV chargers and rapid EV chargers, offer a relatively slower charging rate, ranging between 2.3 kW and 2.5 kW. They employ standard household electrical outlets, such as alternating current (AC) sources, to provide power to EVs. These chargers cater primarily to EV owners who seek to receive or bid farewell to their loved ones at the airport or utilize pre-booked EV cabs while awaiting their passengers.

Mr. Virendra Goyal, Head of Business Development-EV Charging at Tata Power, remarked, "We take immense pride in collaborating with the Ranchi Airport Authority to install EV chargers. Through this initial installation of EV chargers, we aspire to cater to numerous EV operators and families in Ranchi who visit the airport to bid farewell or welcome their loved ones. During their waiting periods, they can effortlessly charge their vehicles from a reliable source without any inconvenience."

Tata Power boasts an expansive network comprising over 3,778 public and captive EV chargers that have been energized across 350 towns and cities, encompassing prominent locations such as shopping malls, well-traveled highways, and metro stations. The network also includes more than 39,000 home chargers and 234 bus-charging points.
