Zurich is a green city and its Office of Parks and Open Spaces, Grun Stadt Zurich, manages 40% of the entire city area. The department, which employs 550 people including apprentices, maintains all public green spaces in the city including street and park trees, urban woodlands, parks, sports and playgrounds, and cemeteries. These daily activities generate huge amounts of organic waste and Grun Stadt Zurich has therefore invested in a Scania G 410 gas truck fuelled with locally produced biogas.

Scania trucks use a gas engine that can run on 100% biogas and Grun Stadt Zurich has large amounts of green waste that can be used to refuel trucks thereby reaching a closed recycling loop.
