BA joint venture between Cimic Group subsidiary CPB Contractors and Italy’s Ghella has been selected by the New South Wales government for a AUD 1.8 billion contract for tunnelling works on the Sydney Metro. The contract is funded by the Australian and New South Wales governments. The joint venture will design and build 9.8km of twin tunnels and excavations for stations at St Marys, Orchard Hills, Airport Terminal Station, Aerotropolis Station and service facilities at ringelly and Claremont Meadows.The new metro will run from St Marys through to the under-construction Western Sydney International Airport and the Western Sydney Aerotropolis.Preparatory tunnelling works on the project is due to begin in early 2023.
