The ambitious €3.5 billion Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link, facilitated by German rail operator Deutsche Bahn (DB), heralds a transformative shift in European transit. The commencement of this monumental project marks the genesis of a comprehensive overhaul, doubling track capacity across an extensive 88km stretch from Puttgarden to Lübeck on the German side of the tunnel.

Inaugurating the first phase of a meticulously planned sequence, Deutsche Bahn embarks on an intricate journey of railway expansion. This initial stage encompasses a myriad of pivotal endeavors—ranging from the augmentation of existing tracks with an additional set, electrification initiatives, to the erection of noise deterrents spanning a length of 1.6km. A testament to collaborative progress, the Danish counterparts initiated their groundwork on the Fehmarnbelt tunnel back in 2020.
