In a remarkable display of creative ingenuity, renowned architecture firm BIG has joined forces with cutting-edge clothing brand Vollebak to envision the captivating Vollebak Island, an idyllic, self-sustained adventure village nestled off the enchanting coast of Nova Scotia, Canada, in the breathtaking Jeddore Harbour.

Spanning 11 acres, this "home of adventure" will be anchored by the magnificent Earth House, a collection of nine interconnected structures artfully clustered beneath a meticulously crafted man-made hill. Additionally, the resilient Wood House annex, a stand-alone garden suite situated on the island's eastern shoreline, will enhance the village's allure. Powered entirely by carbon-neutral energy sources, each room within the village boasts a distinctive material composition, ranging from stacked seaweed and compacted earth to hemp, glass brick, and locally sourced stone, meticulously tailored to create immersive experiences and serve specific purposes.

Bjarke Ingels, the visionary Founder and Creative Director of BIG, expressed his admiration for Vollebak's commitment to technology and material innovation, as they strive to create aesthetically striking, sustainable, and resilient garments—a philosophy that aligns seamlessly with BIG's architectural ethos of Hedonistic Sustainability. "For Vollebak Island, we have seamlessly melded local traditions with global innovation, forging a self-sustained, man-made ecosystem," Ingels stated with pride.

The groundbreaking design vision for Vollebak Island, in collaboration with BIG, will be presented at Sotheby's New York on June 14 as part of Sotheby's Concierge Auctions' Exceptional Global Properties sale, an extraordinary opportunity for discerning individuals seeking to own an unparalleled piece of visionary design and experience the epitome of sustainable, off-grid living.
