World’s leading mining & metal giant Vedanta announced that its international iron ore operations through its subsidiary Western Cluster Limited broke ground for Bomi iron ore mine in Bomi County inLiberia on 8 June 2022. Western Cluster Limited had signed a Mineral Development Agreement with the Government of Liberia for three Iron Ore Mining concessions in Liberia namely Bomi, Bea and Mano in 2011. However, the operations could not be started due to outbreak of Ebola epidemic. Western Cluster Limited is set to restart its operation in a much bigger way with further expansion potential through exploration.Western Cluster Limited is 100% owned subsidiary of Vedanta Limited’s wholly owned subsidiary Mauritius based Bloom Fountain Limited. Western Cluster Limited is a 100% owned subsidiary of Bloom Fountain Limited, a company formed under the laws of Mauritius. Western Cluster Limited was incorporated in Liberia in 2010 to explore investment opportunities in the iron ore sector in the Western Region of Liberia. The principal activities of Western Cluster Limited are to prospect, explore, mine and market iron ore and to manage investments in other companies The Company is also engaged in importing and exporting goods and services related to the exploitation and processing of iron ore in Liberia.
