Reuters reported that China is launching a year long safety inspection campaign across the country’s active coal mines and coal mining projects after a string of industry fatalities. The evaluations will focus on infrastructure, risk prevention management and response and rescue capabilities. Inspectors will also crack down on miners operating beyond planned and approved capacities. The checks will start this week and will extend through the end of 2021.
In 2020, more than 100 coal mining accidents were reported, the report said.
