Following a major damage event at the end of January, in which the so-called flue gas ducts in the boiler house came loose and sagged downwards, Unit 7 of the EnBW coal-fired power plant at the Heilbronn site is not in operation until further notice. EnBW is currently working at full speed to investigate the incident. For example, a structural engineer first checked the area of damage and defined the appropriate measures for protection. As a result, scaffolding will be installed on the outer wall of the boiler house in the course of the next week to support it. Only when all safety measures have been completed can the dismantling work on the damaged areas and the subsequent repair work begin.EnBW said “It can currently be assumed that the work will continue over a longer period of time. Concrete statements on the cause of the damage are not yet possible.”
