ENERCON, a pioneering force in onshore wind turbine technologies, and KALYON Enerji, a prominent investor in renewable energy, have forged a new partnership aimed at advancing renewable energy in Türkiye. This alliance involves the supply and installation of 64 E-138 EP3 wind turbines for KALYON's onshore projects in the country.Under the YEKA RES-3 project, initiated by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources in 2022, KALYON Energy secured a total capacity of 260 MW out of the 850 MW available across 20 different regions. In January, ENERCON and Kalen Energy, a subsidiary of KALYON, signed the first turbine supply and installation contract for the Ordu RES project, which has a capacity of 40 MW as part of the YEKA WPP-3 projects.ENERCON and KALYON Enerji have agreed to deliver and install 64 E-138 EP3 wind energy converters (WECs) for KALYON Enerji's YEKA RES-3 projects in the Elazığ, Bilecik, Bayburt, Ankara, and Trabzon regions, with a total capacity of 260 MW. KALYON Enerji will develop and operate these projects according to the specifications outlined in the 'YEKA 3 Tender.'The production of the E-138 EP3 series is characterized by extensive localization, with all major components manufactured in Türkiye. Tayfun Bayraktar, Sales & After Sales Director for ENERCON's Central Asia, Middle East, and Africa (CAMEA) region, stated, "With 25 years of experience and a well-established supply chain network, we have developed the E-138 EP3 turbine as the most highly localized wind turbine in Türkiye. To date, we have installed and commissioned over 150 E-138 EP3 turbines in the country."ENERCON has already undertaken the complete turbine supply and installation for the 1,000 MW YEKA RES 2 project, playing a crucial role in Türkiye's renewable energy strategies. Arif Günyar, ENERCON Regional Head of CAMEA, emphasized, "The signing of the turbine supply agreement for YEKA RES 3 reaffirms ENERCON's reliability as a turbine supplier and its significance for the country's energy transition." He expressed gratitude to the teams from KALYON Enerji and ENERCON for their collaborative efforts during the contract negotiation phase.Ulrich Schulze Südhoff, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at ENERCON, highlighted the strategic importance of Türkiye as a market, affirming their commitment to expanding their presence in the country. He expressed enthusiasm for further supporting customers in building a renewable energy system and enhancing wind power generation, which will contribute to Türkiye's renewable energy strategy, energy transformation targets, and the development of employment opportunities and skilled human resources.Dr. Murtaza Ata, Board Member and CEO of KALYON Enerji, emphasized that Türkiye already meets 40% of its annual energy needs from renewable sources. The collaboration with ENERCON in supplying wind turbines, achieving a 55% locality rate in line with YEKA-3 criteria, will greatly boost their growth strategies within the YEKA framework, bolstering both sustainability and the economy.
