SeaLink has won Central Queensland State Government backing to build a hydrogen-powered ferry servicing the LNG projects on Curtis Island in Australia. The Government has promised AUD 5 million for SeaLink to design and build the boat that will be powered by hydrogen fuel cells. The total cost of the project was AUD 20.6 million. The ferry would have the capacity to carry 200 passengers at speeds of up to 20 knots and with a range of 50 nautical miles.
