The people of Brussels have once again expressed themselves in favor of Metro 3. Three quarters of respondents are in favour of the creation of the new metro line which will connect Evere and Schaerbeek to Forest and Saint-Gilles, i.e. the north and south of Brussels. A score similar to that recorded in the previous survey, carried out in 2020. In May 2022, the Indiville Institute carried out an online survey, with a margin of error of 3%, on the travel habits of Brussels residents in the capital, and also asked for their opinion on the usefulness of a new metro line in Brussels. With 72% of favorable opinions out of the 1,023 respondents to the survey, this means that nearly three quarters of respondents consider this future line useful. This percentage even increases to 75% by zooming in on the five municipalities concerned by the Metro 3 project: Forest, Saint-Gilles, Brussels-City, Schaerbeek and Evere.Beyond a majority of favorable opinions, the survey highlights various opportunities related to the Metro 3 project. Thus, 73% of respondents believe that the metro is the most efficient means of transport for crossing the city, which will be possible from north to south thanks to Metro 3. 73% is also the percentage of Brussels residents who consider that Metro 3 is a sustainable investment, which will make Brussels public transport more attractive. 61% believe that the new metro line will contribute to achieving the climate objectives of the Brussels-Capital Region.Among the opportunities highlighted by the respondents, we find in particular:The improvement of the public transport offer in BrusselsReducing trafficFaster journeys for the inhabitants of BrusselsIncreased accessibility of BrusselsAt the same time as this survey, the Metro 3 project team went to the field, in the streets of Brussels, to meet the population. The objective: to discuss with citizens their perception of the project and its side effects. Whether along the route of the future Metro 3 or in various places in Brussels, the opinions collected confirm the results and the trends identified in the survey
