Global provider of technology and engineering services Ayesa has recently secured its second contract in Chile, just a few months after beginning to offer its engineering services in the country. The Santiago Metro has awarded the firm an 11-million-euro, 66-month contract to carry out the technical inspection of the lot covering sections 2, 3 and 4 of Line 7. The Chilean Government is expected to invest 2528 million dollars in the line, which will cross the capital from east to west over twenty-six kilometres dotted with nineteen stations. As such, in just forty-three minutes, passengers will be able to travel from Renca to Vitacura.The contract awarded to Ayesa covers a ten-kilometre stretch and involves supervising all aspects relating to construction, verification of compliance with technical specifications, document control for construction and installation contracts, compliance with construction methods and safety standards, and monitoring of the progress made and the schedule for implementation, to name but a few examples.The section in question forms the central part of the line, and runs from Matucana to Isidora Goyenechea. The tunnel will be created using the New Austrian tunnelling method (NATM) and will have a total of eight stations. It will be connected to various lines, including the extension of Line 6, and use driverless trains.This is the second contract Ayesa has been awarded for the Santiago Metro. It also recently secured a project to provide technical inspection services for the installation, testing and commissioning of the systems and equipment for the extension of Line 3.
