Ferrovial, through its US construction subsidiary Webber, has been selected by the North Carolina Department of Transportation to build a 5-kilometer section of the I-74 highway in Forsyth County in North Carolina in US. The contract is worth USD 261.8 million. The project is Webber’s first in North Carolina, where Cintra is in charge of the I-77 Express Lanes, which were built by Ferrovial.Work is expected to begin in February and to take four years to complete; it includes the construction of seven bridges and other infrastructures.The contract is part of a project launched by the North Carolina Department of Transportation involving the construction of a multi-lane beltway to the north of the city of Winston-Salem, in Forsyth County. This project is expected to reduce congestion and improve safety on one of the busiest routes in the area while boosting the region’s economy.
