The National Tourism Development Fund Fonatur issued the ruling of the public tender for the construction of the electrified railroad of the Mayan Train for Section 5 South, which corresponds to the journey from Playa del Carmen to Libramiento Tulum 9 national and international consortia participated in this call. The winning consortium is México Compania Constructora SA de CV in joint participation with Acciona Infraestructuras Mexico SA de CV, and Acciona Construccion SA and Mexico Proyectos y Desarrollos SA de CV and presented an economic proposal for an amount of just over 17,815 million pesos. This company complied with all legal and administrative requirements. Likewise, it has the technical experience required to carry out a work of this magnitude, which includes railway and road infrastructure works, drainage, dirt roads, wildlife crossings, as well as electrification works for the double track, among others. The details of the start of the road works will be announced shortly. In the coming days the corresponding contract will be signed so that the works can start as soon as possible. Likewise, on January 27, the opening of proposals for Section 5 North was carried out, where 10 proposals were received corresponding to the route from Cancun airport to Playa del Carmen. Resolution of the ruling is expected on February 10. Sections 6 and 7 will be built by the Ministry of National Defense. It is important to highlight that up to now, various bidding processes have been carried out, where the work projects of 4 of the 7 sections of the Mayan Train stand out; the processes corresponding to the rails and rolling stock were also completed. Only one direct award has been made, which corresponds to section 4.The bids for the Mayan Train project are made in strict compliance with the applicable regulations as appropriate, as well as with the participation of social witnesses designated by the Ministry of Public Function, in this case Gobernanza, Desarrollo Y Transparencia Institucional, AC, and the assistance from the United Nations Office for Services and Projects where it participates in an independent and parallel evaluation process that culminates in the issuance of a letter of conformity.The Maya Train is established as the key infrastructure work to detonate well-being in the south-southeast of Mexico, a region that has historically lagged behind in terms of public investment.
