Kier Awarded GBP 82 Million CityFibre work

Kier, a leading provider of construction and infrastructure services, has been appointed by CityFibre, the UK’s third national digital infrastructure platform,

to deliver full fibre rollouts across five towns and cities in central and south-west England. The combined worth of the five contracts, covering Cheltenham, Gloucester, Bath, Weston-Super-Mare and Worcester, is up to GBP 82 million and works will start from early 2021 and will run for two and a half years.

To support this programme of works, Kier will be creating c.300 employment, apprenticeship and training opportunities across all of these locations, as well as upskilling teams to deliver this vital digital infrastructure.

This work is part of CityFibre’s £4 billion Gigabit City Investment Programme which is targeting up to 8m premises to upgrade to full fibre, and supports the Government’s own full fibre ambitions of delivering super-fast broadband speeds across the country by 2025.
